Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri has admitted he couldn’t turn down a transfer to Barcelona amid rumours linking him with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham .

The Ivory Coast international has had a superb season in Ligue 1, contributing six goals and nine assists from the middle of the park to fire the club to third in the table.

Can Harry Kane break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record… and when will he do it?

Nice recently confirmed that Seri has a £34million release clause in his contract that would allow him to move this summer, but it seems the Premier League is not his preferred destination.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the 25-year-old admitted he’s always been a big Barcelona fan and that he tries to base his game on legendary Cules playmaker Xavi.

‘If Barça comes to sign you, you can’t say no. No way,’ he said.

‘I have supported Barça since I was a child, when I was still in my native country, in Ivory Coast. I was always a big Cule (Barcelona fan) and those who know me know it well. Then, when I moved to Portugal, I had the chance to follow their games closely.

‘He (Xavi) is the player I have always tried to look like. I can close my eyes and remember some of his games and passes with the Barcelona shirt. I always took attention to his football.’

‘Seri has a clause worth €40m. It made everyone smile when we put this clause in two years ago. At that price, he will be free,’ Nice President Jean Pierre Rivere told RMC last week.

Arsenal could do with a top quality signing in midfield this summer and have also been linked with £50million-rated Everton star Ross Barkley in that position.
